What’s in the Box?

A week or so ago I posted a pic on Facebook. This pic, to be specific

Pottery Barn package
Ooooh, pretty

I literally squealed the day I came home and saw it sitting on our steps, just waiting for me, all precious looking.

See, I’ve been pining for this since July, when I got our first Pottery Barn catalog. I missed my chance to buy it at a discount and have been waiting ever since. Unbelievably, it took six whole months for another 20% off lighting sale, but my patience paid off. So, what is it?

I just love the Edison bulb! Regularly $150, it was 20% off plus I had a coupon, and all in all saved close to $50, not bad!

The bad news is, I more than paid for it with installation. Our foyer is 12-15 feet high, and our ladder + my height = not tall enough to install. We ended up having to hire it out, which worked out well since we had other electrical work to be done, but it was definitely an unanticipated cost, basically voiding my savings.

Here’s a crummy shot in our entrance:

It turns out that it’s really difficult to photograph, especially with a cellphone. The pictures I took do not to it justice so you’ll just have to believe me when I say it looks great and fits the space perfectly. The Edison bulb gives the perfect Amber glow, and I’m so happy to be rid of the builder grade fixture we had previously which was much more traditionally styled.

This feels like the first update we’ve made that actually brings some of our personality to the place, at least for me, Jon was happy with what we had, his style is a bit more traditional then mine.

Sorry if this post is a bit anticlimactic, but you can come over any time to check it out in person 😉

What updates have you made to bring your personality to your home?

Love it! Can't wait to see it in person. It's okay that you hired out the help, sometimes you just have to do it and it usually ends up worth it in the end. My update to my home is my stairs are DONE!!!!
